Here is a tasty accompaniment for a hearty Winter Soup dish! Use a good Michigan-made cheddar cheese for additional zip to already lively asiago!
1/2 c SHREDDED ASIAGO CHEESE
1/2 c SHREDDED CHEDDAR CHEESE
1/4 c MINCED CHIVES OR GREEN ONION
1 EGG, BEATEN
1/4 t HOT PEPPER SAUCE
FRESHLY GROUND WHITE PEPPER
1 CHUNK FRENCH BREAD, SLICED
Combine cheese, chives, egg and hot pepper sauce in bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Arrange bread halves on baking sheet. Carefully top each slice with half the cheese mixture. Bake at 350 degrees until cheese is melted and bread is crusty, 10 to 12 minutes. Serve immediately. Serves 2.
